Taig Khris M6 Mega Jump from Eiffel tower week-end

After a long cold winter, yes I know I say this each spring, but this last winter had double iced days (42), could have been OK for ice skating, but unfortunatly was very bad for outdoorramp rollerskating!!! Things even got worse when I tore my ankle and add nearly two months to that already long winter. So when I got confirmation that yes, there would be a vert for the Taig Khris mega jump, and yes there will be free access for everybody, I filled my bag with all my skating gear and run to the Eiffel tower!!!!
I went there on wednesday, to see how the mega quarter was improving: it was nearly ready, and I coud see some of the first jumps of Taig Khris (and fortunate to get an autograph...) from low eigth:about 20 m on the quarter. No sign of the vert, but so far, so good, the internet schedule still stated free access and pro demo!!!

Friday afternoon was cool!! After a full rainy thursday, a blue sky, Taig jumping from higher from the plateform, and the vert ready for access: nearly a full afternoon of ripping that one with few other skaters!!!

Satur(n)day, the w(h)ell named, was D-day for Taig to establish the record!!!! When I arrived on the site, it was crazy, there was hundreds of catalan rugby supporters drinking, making fire for bbk everywhere!!! It was cool on the vert: Nel Martin, Jean Postec, Lamine Fathi and Sven Bokhorst were there to make a very nice demo!!! Some other pro were riding too as Kevin Maron Lopez. It was cool to skate with 2 other quad skaters that I met on other ramps. At a moment, we were 3 quads and an inliner!! At about 6pm, the Champ de Mars was full (Mars god of war…), ready for Taig performance!!! I was standing on the vert (1/10 of the mega) to watch the event, Taig made it twice full armored from 12.5m, the second time was perfect, with a long rolling time, and all the groupies shouting!!!! Impressive how yong ladies run fast after Taig when it’s time to get an autograph!!! Weather was cloudy with some drops, but it fully rained just after Taig performance.....So far so good!!!!

Sunday was all but sunny, begining with heavy rain, nevertheless around 11 rain stopped, and at 12 the ramps where dry!!! Everybody were waiting for a drop from Taig, but the wind was strong, and he didn't make it. We had again demos from the Saturday pros, going higher!!!! Nel and Jean Postec really ripped hard!! For me it was again a full afternoon of skating, taking confidence and going a bit higher, even if I was a bit sore.... So that was a very good week-end of skating, enjoying the Eiffel tower view, and sharing it with all the other ramp riders I know from RIP Roller Parc Avenue with a cool public, the main thing I missed was to share those moments with all of you, quad rskating addicts from all the world and from Mr B forum!!! Hope we can gather somewhere someday for real!!!!

After a long long winter with twice icy days than usual, beginning of march,ice is gone!!!! Nearly 3 months wihout skating.... Only indoor badmington and climbing, and 1 week of snowboarding and testing the half-pipe the last day:

Couldn't help to try some of these Skorpion skates. First run at Roller & Coquillage sunday 20km rando, along the streets of Paris.

pro:
- cool strap system to put on/off your skorpions, this is very cool when you alternate public transports often, don't need to remove your shoes!!!
- 100mm wheels are tolerant on almost every peebles, pavements
- quite light: 1.5kg each skate
- very confortable
- love their design
- interaxes are the same than my vert skate V2!!!

cons:
- Quadline wheels saturates in speed and seems to stick on smooth surface

conclusions:

-Very good for cool street crusing in cities on short distances (4km) in combo with public transports.
-Need to test other inline wheels
-Vert/bowl too???

Champigny challenge 2009 (Sept 27)

This 2nd challenge and 3rd birthday was sunny again!!!!! A very cool event with BMX, skateboarding and Rollerskating friends. Franziska Scholz was there too, skateboarding hard against the sun ;-)
For the comp, you have to choose your category: pro or amateur. As I didn't care, finishing last of the pros, I chose pro. Like this, I also let some places for youngers (Ok I know what you are thinking: everybody was younger...) in the AM category. As everything never works totally as you intend, there were few pros, and I finished third ;-) behind Greg Maury (1st: 150eu) and Nicolas Colliaux (2nd: 100eu). So this year, no cup, but price money for me and of course lots of fun from 10am to 19:30pm, huhu !!!!!

Zorg quad skates V1

V1 version:

I now use the V2 version and a V3 version is on the rails, but as they will have the same shape as the V1, I though it's interesting to post here the plan of my first quad skates V1 using skateboard trucks (french size42=US 8 ‘’)

I initially made them for medium/big ramps and grinding/sliding possibilities:

* Low profile Venture trucks (13cm)
* Sector 9 wheels 59mm 88a
* Plates: 6mm thick aluminium plate with U section aluminium stringers
* Wood grind plate: easier to grind for finding the good dimensions
* Inexpensive hockey boots from inline skates: could be more confortable.

Pro: Fast and grippy on wood and masonnite ramps. Side stance eagle grinds are cool Impossible to break, with standard skate parts if ever....

Cons: 4.5kg both….. with the stringers, the main plate could be thinner

Adjustements of V1:

-grind plate aligned with truks, shaped with curve. Teflon plates added, slides are better, but on hot coping they stick

- wheels: Powell Bowl bomber 64mm, 95A for unperfect ramps or with wax...
Powell Bowl bomber 64mm, la Park Formula (PF) for perfect surface with no wax!!!
- bearings: Powell reds

Winterthur skatepark (Switzerland, 2008/11/1)

Another cool park in Switzerland, not too far from Basel, with bowl, small ramp, street area, sand beachvolley and climbing with the same ticket (16 Swiss F for the whole day). With more $$ Karting is possible too!!! From Bernhard, more infos about the part here . I love the bowl, quite smooth, not too slippery from wax (max 95a), with plenty trajectories to discover!!!! Other riders are cool. Here are some vids:

Basel skatepark (Switzerland, 2008/10/28)

Planned to test Strasbourg outdoor vert ramps on that day, but rain was heavy, so we drove south to Basel (1h15 from Strasbourg). Easy to find by following Bernhard instruction, but finding a place for parking the car without the special swiss card is hard!!!! Fond a tip, places with with marks are free, blue one not.... From Bernhard, more infos about the part here .
The park is very nice and cheap (4 Swiss F!!! for 10h session). The indoor wood halfpipe is nice, it looks a bit less than 4m, minus are that the wood is a bit irregular, and the ceiling is low, about 2m above the coping, but it's not a problem for me ;-). There is a small ramp on an another room, nice too, but quite noisy!!!!! The street area looks nice too, with a very smooth floor!!!

Le Havre bowl 30 years latter (2008/10/19, Le havre, Normandy, France)

Luckily, sun was there!!! Beginning to find the lines and having fun!!! This place is special for me, as it was there that I learned half-pipe Rskating 30 years ago. At the same place was the first park ever of this city, with fiber glass quarters and half pipe, with no coping nor plateform....Plate stalls were tricky, as in place of the coping, the ramps were rounded, with a 20 cm radium, and we had queue for using them, up to about 20 riders waiting for few seconds runs, crazy 1979!!! In those time, there was a guard in charge of the park, filtering people, no pedestrians, nor moto... skateboards, roller skate only, BMX didn't exist yet, all tricks had to be invented!!!!
Now it's a smooth public concrete park, with bowl and street parts, max 2m deep, with plenty trajectories and transitions to discover and share with skateboard and BMX!!!! It's a pleasure to share this equipement new generations!!

It's one of the biggest outdoor crete park in France!!

Roll' sSome Noise III (Lespot indoor skatepark, Le Mans, France, Oct. 3rd, 2008)

Still wondering if I go there or not after having my back aching the full week before, it was with a bit of fear that I finally got there. My back was a bit stiff, but we had a very cool night session!!!! The 3rd edition of this rollerdisco night was with the theme of the sea, many nice disguises and dance on the street area. Quad skaters were here!!! The bowl part got some animation too!!!

Champigny PRO/AM 2008 (sept 27-28)

End of september, last year there was a big event at Champigny, with nice demos in skateboading, rollerskating and BMX: this year was added a contest during the 2 days!!!!

Satuday stated cool and sunny, wake-up at 7, (temp was 7°C too), a bit warm up when I lost my visa, then I picked up Major, and by 9 we were at Champigny !!! Whith Guy THECLAN staff was ready: we set-up the juge tent, computers, clean and dry the ramp from last night dew!!!! and by 11-12, the ramp was ready for riding !!!!! Then the day passed too fast, competitors arrived, like Greg, Aurore, or Marc. For Rollerskating, the event was organized as a 2 jam sessions, pro and am together, the 2 first riders of each jam qualified, plus one session for qualifying 2 from the loosers for the sunday finals: so 6 riders were qualified for sunday. Was lucky to qualify ...
On saturday night the ramp was illuminated for free session and best tricks!!! It was really nice!!!! at 10pm the site closed!
Sunday was a bit cooler, sunny as possible, we arrived by 12 at Champigny. The timing was a bit tense, as all the comp had to be finished by 15h30 for the podium with officials....At 16h30 everything was done.

Trying to learn soul.... First I try to do stalls with my rigth feet front, left behind (it's the reverse from my 50-50 grinds), then grind like this on 3 trucks, then soul!!!! Still need to learn how to get a better control of my back skate....

Wearable Cam Geonaute X-Snipe 300 (Made by Oregon scientific)

First try of this cam with my rolleskates (hope to try it windsurfing, snowboarding or cycling too). Tried it on the side of the helmet, but balance is not good and confusing for me, as riding in a ramp the head anticipate all movements and non balanced inertia is tricky to cope with. Placed on top of the helmet, inertia is better balanced and it seems to be good compromise for quality and security (mine and the cam). As the top of my head seems (up to now) less impact attractive, and lateral impacts with the cam on the side could be really dangerous for my neck.....

Hope I can do better quality next time on a bigger ramp or on trecks ;-)

Guyancourt ramp session (june 2008)

With a perfect blue skie, I planned to go skating on my nearby ramp, aka Bures sur Yvette. So I went there as usual, starting with cleanning the ramp as usual, then I put my skate and protecs, finishing by my whrist guards.....Damned, forgot them at home... So I pack everything, go back home, take the damned whrist gards, come back to the ramp, pad up again full armor this time: ahaha, that's it, I'm ready to skate!!! Start to pump up, ouch!!! why are my skates so slippery .... go down, I touch the ramp and dang, spots of grease (butter may be?), too many of them to be removed: end of session.....exactly like some of my soft nightmares (on hard ones, w(h)ell the ones I can told here, I fall hard from 10m miss airs...)
So I pack everything for the second time, and driving back home, thinking about this sunny day without skating, humm, why not trying Guyancourt ramp, I've not tested it yet, only seen it once a rainny day: it's wide, not very high, 15min driving, perfect to try long long slides without the fear of vert!!!! So finally it worked out!!!!
So finally, a perfect 2.5h good session (after cleaning again a ramp...from dust and cherry cores)

For me vert is like Whisky or Ti' Punch: dry without ice!!!!!!! And due to bad cold wet winter weather, had more aperitizers than good ramp sessions, so this was my first session of the year at Champigny since december... Nevertheless, the ramp is still in good shape, waiting for abuse and I had 4 hours alone in the ramp, getting back my tricks and testing my new Rainskates wheels (Hornets 65mm 98a). These wheels are really fast and accelerate really well. yayaya!!!

Cold winter session (0°C), Champigny vert was too much frozen, so we tried Chevilly spine ramps. No ice, but lot of dust and some water..... The coping of this ramp is very nice and wide, so nice grind seesion and transferts!!!!

Thanks to my friends, I have 2 new wheels sets to ride:
-Rainskate Hornets 65mm 98a (1kg for 8 wheels, 1.15kg with bearings and spacers, 10mm spacers), hard core, 100% Ketchikan, Alaska product.
-Cortech disc 60mm 98a (700g for 8 wheels, 10mm spacers), gravity molded at ambient temp: hard disk core is bonded at molecular scale!!!!Wheels are lathed to 60mm and come from Sidney, Australia!!!! Brand Cortech from 1978 by Tim Dawe.
For comparing, Powell Bomber 68mm 85a are 1kg without bearings (10mm spacers), Powell Bowl Bombers 64mm 95a are 1.35kg with bearings and spacers (10mm). All these wheels have bearings centered, Powell ones don't have core!!

Session with William and Major, my skateboarding buddies. The ramp was like a swimming pool in one corner. Lukily we could empty it by removing dust from the evacuation holes with our screwdrivers... then cleaning tools and the 12°c temps with 5 BF winds dried it in half an hour!!!!! This let us to ride from 2pm to 4:45pm time, closing time in winter (sunset time too ;-)) It's so good to rip vert!!!!

Roller Disco night session at Le mans skatepark (LE SPOT) with access to the bowl!!!!!! Quader was very busy with the organisation, but he could have some time for bowl riding. The organization was perfect, with 80's music, animations such as dance, jump demo from the quarter, disguise (google translation...) contest and bowl of course. The skatepark is very nice, brand new with a street area (so smooth) and a bowl (wood). Temperature is kept constant, so it wasn't frezzing inside (outside it was). 4 hours driving back and forth for a 4 hours session was really worth the effort, and the main effort was (for me) in the bowl: I felt like on steroids and my heartrate often reached 230pulse/min, so the disco area was perfect for cooling down in slow motion with music.

Cold session around 0°C, the sun was there, but with the cold -6°C night temp, the ramp structure was still below freezing point. It took nearly 2hours to unice it....for a 3 hours good session!!!

MIDDLE RAMP INLINE CONTEST, MASSY (21/10/2007)

First ever ramp contest for me!!!!! Arriving late, everybody had already done his 3 qualification runs, Major let me perform few warming up runs and then the 3 qualification runs (Thank you again very much Major). As it usually takes me one hour to warm up, it was a bit hard, but anyway, it was so fun to have music with a cool public that the mental and physical stress was lower than expected!!!!! And what a surprise, I was selected as one of the 10 finalists (OK we were 17...). We had to perform five runs, it was a bit harder for me, more stressed from more public and more time to warm down than up, but everybody was in the same conditions!!!! This contest was a local friendly one, the winers did nice combo tricks on the coping, other nice rotations. And again surprised, I finished 8th..... It was really cool and fun to compete with my friends and it pushes me a bit more to try new tricks.

Cool meeting with Bomberator team from Spain and Irene from NY!!!!!!!!
After a 2 hours TGV trip reserved last minute, I arrived at the park at 13h, too early for the indoor park, but already warmed up by coming rskating from the train station (flat/smooth/straigth 40min). Nevertheless, the free outdoor park and the small ramp were worth the try with this sunny weather. At the opening of the indoor park (14h) I was nearly alone on the vert, adapting to this new ramp form me and wondering when the Bombe team would arrive. I was figthing with my camera/tripod/remote stuff in order to take some videos while Nelo and is friends arrived by 15h30!!!! This was the beginning of a very cool and incredible afternoon. We were about ten quad rollerskaters on a vert!!!!! I was very impressed by the level and the motivation of everybody. Even during his warming up Nelo is impressive (how can you stretch so long? I can't wait in front of a vert ;-)) and after, his tricks were wonderfull (2m airs, infinite kind of inverts, rotations, slides), you should participate to the X-games/LG-action games Nelo!!!!!! Special mention to Marta the youngest who skated her first vert here and already put some nice tricks and to Irene was was still in the jet lags and skated!!!!
The ramp is really nice, (size between Nantes and Champigny). Pity I couldn't stay longer and share the other days with you and see Bernhard: this was the first gathering for me and not the last!!!! Here are few picts and videos from that friday:

After a weather always rainy and windy these last two months, this is the first dry week, long enough to dry the ramp!!!!! So it is time for a cool first session at Champigny for this year!!!!
The car diddn't want to start, out of battery, but (luckily) we could manage it, and at 12h Swann, Timo, Pierre and I were at the most wanted vert in Paris. Swann took some picts and viceos:

I tried to shoot some runs from the rider point of view:
- Skate view, eagle back and forth
- getting easier with the cam during skating I tried to share the different views here and there
The sound comes from the air rushing during skating, it always strikes me when I drop this ramp: calm on top and windy each time at the bottom ;-)
Here are some of the first airs and grinds here till november
The kids tried their pads and Swann gets more and more altitude.

Eiffel tower vert session

Thanks to Taig Khris Events and "La voix de l'enfant", a vert ramp was installed at the Eiffel Tower first floor for the 25th birthday of the association "La voix de l'enfant". Free Rskating initiation and practice from 18th to 20th nov 2006. Against really bad weather forecast that predicted rain and wind, the weather was really nice during the weekend, so, it was hard to resist to Rskate in such a cool place!!!!! Taig Khris and is young team did a really nice show!!! The kids and their parents could enjoy rskating and try vert riding.
For me, it was really cool and wonderfull two afternoons, vert riding at nearlly 60m above Paris !!

Nice stay at Vancouvert for IEEE Ultrasonics congress. For Rskating, the city is quite flat, with smooth big concrete plates or smooth pedestrian ways. The police is cool, and many skateboarders ride along the road!! On sunday 1st, we planned to skate around Stanley park, here is the map:

Thes views are quite stunning and the cycling path is smooth. Be carefull, the northern part is anti-clock wise only (not wide enough for 2 ways). Here are some views:

On thursday we had a cool RSkating session at Hastings skatepark with Rollergirl and her friends!!! The bowls are deep enough to cover all levels, smooth with a good steel coping.

Portrait d'un personnage bucolique qui, régulièrement, intrigue et impressionne les spectateurs de la rampe.

On peut pas patiner avec ces patins !" assure l'un. Puis, un autre de renchérir "Quand je l'ai vu, je me suis dit : mais qu'est ce qu'il a aux pieds, ma parole, c'est un ouf !".

Hé oui, fruit de notre culture, bercé par les modes ! Imagine-t-on aujourd'hui qu'on puisse rouler sur une maxi rampe avec des quads, à l'ancienne et à la quarantaine ?

Zorg, dont j'ai commencé la description par les pieds (y va me taper sur les mains !) est un personnage haut en couleur (he oui, il a un casque jaune, au sommet), des petite lunettes rondes qui s'envolent même pas quand il ride, un short court rembourré, des protèges poignets rivetés maison et surtout...

de purs patins artisanaux dont les roues, pas n'importe lesquelles, proviennent d'un long parcours (origine canada) dont lui seul vous donnera la recette ! Ses patins semblent construit d'un entrecroisement de barres d'aluminium et de teflon dont la nature originelle en atteste long sur les astuces du monteur (planche à couper Ikéwa). Le tout encadré par deux bons gros trucks de skates et d'une chaussure confortable dont l'évocation oscille entre les débuts des chaussures en plastiques et les vides greniers.

Ilôt de bricolage dans un univers manufacturé Made InTaiwan, Loïc représente à mes yeux un de ces aventuriers qui pourrait bien sortir de ce film formidable "Les fous volants dans leurs drôles de machines". Je vous souhaite de le rencontrer et d'apprécier au passage, entre autres, son aisance en aigle et son ouverture à l'échange.

Comment as-tu commencé le roller ?
J’ai commencé avec les vieux patins à roulettes de mon oncle dans l’appart de mes grand-parents, j’avais alors 6 ans. Ce jour là, la 2ème étape a été de descendre les 4 étages…. Même si ça partait dans tous les sens, ça m’a tout de suite plu. Après pas mal d’années avec ces patins, souvent seul parmi la foule des premiers skateurs, j’ai enfin pu me faire offrir des vrais quads en 1980 (patin Okeroll dance à bottines). C’est aussi à cette époque que j’ai appris la rampe au 1er park du Havre. Il y avait tellement de monde que je venais tôt le matin avec mon cousin pour pas faire la queue devant les modules et aussi euh ... avoir moins la honte !!!

Pourquoi le quad ?
Le plaisir de la glisse sur l’asphalte. L’accroche et la poussée dans les virages qui ressemblent au courbes serrées qu’on peut prendre en windsurf. J’ai essayé plusieurs fois des inlines et c’est ce coté qui me manquait.
Et puis aussi le plaisir d’assembler des nouveaux montages.

Pourquoi tu fais toujours du quad ?
Parce que je me fais toujours plaisir. Je ne me lasse pas des grandes courbes, des grinds ou des airs : la sensation de voler puis d’atterrir en douceur. Et depuis que je suis en région parisienne, il y a encore pas mal de spots contrairement au windsurf ...

Tu fais quoi en quad ?
Principalement de la rampe en aigle (j’ai retrouvé le parallèle il y a peu), des slides sur le coping, inverts, airs.
J’aime bien aussi les longues randos (Voie vertes Bourgogne, île de Ré) ou découvrir de nouvelles villes en roller (Annecy, Manhattan, Barcelone). Avant j’aimais bien faire des slides en aigle, mais ça mange trop de gomme.

Tu as quoi comme paires de quad ?
- Ville : lazer vitesse + sims + Addidas foot,
- Rando : jumper + HyperRollo + shoes basses,
- Rampe : truck larges skate + PowellBB64mm101A + coque hockey

Quel est ton prochain montage ?
- Les VSK’8, des quads légers conçus pour grinder avec un centre de gravité très bas et des straps.
- Les Street Vertigo de Rollergirl : des quads un peu moins larges que les miens, avec des platines standard.

Quel est ton meilleur montage actuellement ?
Tous les montages que j’ai

Quel est ton montage préféré de tous les temps ?
Le montage du futur et idéal serait super léger, super solide, permettant de tout faire avec la même paire, avec des cliquets pour changer les roues rapidement.

Ton shop ?
Rollergirl (Canada), Hawaisurf et Sport Maximum (Le Havre)

Tes 3 albums préférés pour rouler ?
Je roule sans musique, j’aime bien entendre le ffff, ffff des roues ou le bruit métallique des trucks sur le coping. Sinon, je suis plutôt métal style DreamTheater, Metallica, System ou Opeth.
(Xavier : Ah oui, enfin un ... trop fort Opeth !!!)

Ton plat avant / après avoir roulé ?
Avant, c’est léger (sandwich), sinon la digestion me ramollit la motivation et les réflexes.
Après par contre, plus c’est copieux, mieux c’est : Couscous maison par exemple.

Tes boissons préférées ?
Eau à 13° pendant et Ti’punch à 60° après !

Ce que tu sais bien faire en roller ?
Rampe en aigle et slides sur coping, vitesse courte et longue distance, le casse-noisette (tomber à cheval sur le coping et mettre la main au dernier moment), jouer à rollerball : le dernier qui est debout a gagné…..

Ce que tu ne sais pas bien faire ?
Tomber : je déteste tomber. Et comme je ne tombe pas souvent, j'y suis donc pas assez entrainé. Du coup je tombe mal. Faut que j’apprenne à tomber avec les protecs.
Sinon, le slalom avec plots, le saut (je ménage mon dos), le street (trop mal au Q), rotations tête en bas… plus d’un tour…

Ce qui te ferait tripper à faire en quad ?
D’enchaîner des airs à 3m de haut en douceur, tellement haut que tu vois la rampe rétrécir (j’y arrive en rêve, même que je touche le plafond), des méga slides sur big, des rotations, rider d’autres parks comme Woodward avant d’être trop vieux et rencontrer les anciens pros.

Que penses-tu du roller en ligne ?
Ca a permis d’attirer beaucoup de pratiquants et de développer ce sport. Sinon je trouve que c’est bien pour faire du street, pour rouler sur des terrains difficiles, dans le sable, sur les pavés ou en tout-terrain (les quads, ça bloque plus souvent). J’aime bien voir ce que les gars arrivent à faire en rampe, en street et en slalom aussi.
Par contre sur terrain mouillé ya pas photo, c'est quad !
Enfin, les inlines, c’est une source importante de pièces pour assembler des quads

Qu'est ce qui te plait / déplait dans le quad ?
Les quadeurs qu’on croise sont souvent des passionnés et c’est toujours sympa de discuter. J’aime bien la communauté qui s-quad le web :

Ce que j’aime pas, c’est la disparition des shops, du bon matos et des bons spots (RPA, Ballard), attendre qu’il ne pleuve plus, attendre que la Méga rampe de Champigny soit finie (ça fait 1 an qu’elle est en finition….).
J’aime pas les chiens qui essaient de me croquer les mollets, encore moins leurs maîtres qui m’aboient après parce que j’ai refusé de me laisser mordre par leur animal (sans laisse) et d’avoir à subir un vaccin anti-rabique (grosse picouse dans le ventre).

Qu'est ce qui te plait / déplait dans le monde du rollo ?
J’aime pas l’effet de mode qui influence le marché ou les gens qui te jugent uniquement sur ton ‘look’.
Les gens achètent ou utilisent sans réfléchir, l’argument étant : ‘Ben tout le monde fait comme ça’. Les médias exploitent et appuient trop souvent une image agressive (destructive ?) qui ne correspond pas à la réalité des pratiquants et qui tue l’image de notre sport.
J’aime pas les gens qui foncent sur les voies vertes uniquement quand il y a du monde, ceux qui disent que c’est pas de mon âge, le cloisonnement des disciplines.
J’aime pas les noms compliqués donnés aux figures, z’ont aucune logique, mais bon là c’est moi qui doit vieillir.

J’aime bien les questions que me posent les gamins (c’est quoi vos ??, Comment ça s’appelle ? pourquoi tu roules en crabe ?), leurs remarques spontanées (Oh le monsieur y fait du patin à roulettes, Dis Monsieur tu peux nous refaire le spectacle), ceux qui ne disent rien et qui essaient de faire les mêmes figures en cachette, en inline. J’aime bien la mine réjouie des gamins quand ils arrivent à dropper une rampe pour la première fois.
J’aime bien l’esprit des rondes roller, ce côté constructif (et d’autres) commence à influencer les médias et les politiques dans le bon sens.

Question bonus : trouver une question à la con et y répondre.

- Une dernière remarque ?
Super l’idée de Rollerquad : je guette toujours l’article de la semaine. Ca serait sympa d’arriver à ‘internationaliser’ le concept, peut-être avec une version anglaise des articles.

Born in 1967, I had my very first skates in 1973, it was the beginning of lots of fun.

Ramp skating:

1980-1982: I could buy my first quad rollerskates (Okeroll plates and dance boots). It was then the end of the first skateboard great period. I learned ramp skating in Le Havre (France), till the end of its first skate park. I started then side stance skating and doing tricks that could be now classified in the street domain

1986-1989: 2 skaters friends built a 2m wood ramp in their garden: great fun, side stance and first inverts.

Since 2003: Back into my ramp skates, mainly in the south suburbs of Paris (Bures/Yvette, Massy, Rollerparc Avenue) , trying new tricks and to get used to 4m ramps!!! !!! Funny how fast the kids can find a nickname: duck, spider, crab, egyptian, eagle, octopus. However there is always one of them trying side stance or inverts once they have seen them.
